Darren MacMillan

General Manager

Darren MacMillan has been an educator in Prairie Rose Public Schools since 1997. His teaching career included five years in Schuler, followed by three and a half years in Irvine, and then 17.5 years at Eagle Butte High School. In July of 2018, MacMillan was appointed Program Development Coordinator of Prairie Rose Public Schools. Part of his role was the development and implementation of the South Alberta Hockey Academy. In the first years, the school based high performance academies saw a 160% growth. In the spring of 2020, MacMillan was instrumental in bringing the SAHA Male and Female U18 Prep programs to South East Alberta and he was named the program’s first General Manager. MacMillan spearheaded the development of South Alberta High School (online platform) and was named the school’s principal in 2022. In 2024 he was appointed Director of Enhanced Programming for Prairie Rose Public Schools. Prior to teaching, MacMillan obtained his Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Lethbridge. In October of 2011, he received his Masters of Education in Coaching Studies from the University of Victoria.

Evan Vossen

Female U18 Prep Head Coach

Evan is in his fifth season as the Head Coach of the Female U18 program. He has also served as an Assistant Coach on Hockey Alberta’s staff for the Female U18 Team Alberta, which competed in the 2023 Canada Winter Games in PEI, and has coached at the Alberta Challenge. His coaching background includes serving as the Head Coach for the CSSHL Male U18 Prep team and holding the role of Head Coach/General Manager at the Jr. A level. A former student-athlete, Evan attended McGill University, where he captained the men’s hockey team to a CIS National Championship. After university, he played three years of professional hockey. Evan lives in Medicine Hat with his wife, Rachel, and their two children, Alexis and Connor.

Jane Kish

Female U18 Prep Assistant Coach

Kish graduated from the University of Regina in April of 2020 with a joint degree in Kinesiology and Education while also playing for 6 years for the Cougars as a goalie where she set multiple schools records. She is 4th in minutes played, 3rd in save percentage, 2nd in goals against average and 1st in wins and shutouts in a career. As well as multiple single season records including setting a record in goal against average and save percentage and shutouts. Before going to the University of Regina, Kish set a league record in Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA for career wins, goals against average, save percentage and shutouts. Kish finished her U Sports career with one the best seasons by a goalie in Cougar history. After her illustrious university career, Kish went over to Sweden to play for Trollhattefallens in Division 1, before returning back to Canada the following season to join the staff of SAHA.
